The program of the big gala show in Great Catherine Palace

The artistic director and director of this German-Russian project is Mr. Hans-Joachim Frey - General Director of the Dresden Semper Opera Ball, Artistic Director of the Talent and Success Educational Foundation (Sirius Educational Center, created at the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation) and advisor to the General Director of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.

Enjoy a unique combination of world-class performers in the magnificent opening program of the gala show conducted by Fabia Mastrangelo and with participation of Aida Garifullina, Sergey Rolduign, Pavel Milyukov, Boris Eifman's Ballet, Janoska Ensemble and the Ten of the Best Trumpet Ensemble. German actor Tom Wlaschiha (from TV series Game of Thrones) and Russian TV presenter Oxana Fedorova will present this spectacular program to a wide audience.

The program of the Dresden Opera Ball in St. Petersburg also includes performances by jazz legend Igor Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, pop-musician Emin and a spectacular choreographic performance by Russian debutants from the St. Petersburg Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Revival of ballroom traditions in Russia

One of the brightest culminating and exciting events of the gala evening is the dance-procession of debutants. After the successful debut of young cadets of the Suvorov Military School during the premiere of the First Dresden Opera Ball in Saint Petersburg, it was unanimously decided to invite not only these impeccable young people to participate in the 2nd Dresden Opera Ball in Saint Petersburg, but also cadettes of the boarding school of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Look at the dancing debut of young cadets and cadettes, who will demonstrate the highest level of ancient dance culture that has existed in Russia for several centuries. The dance of debutants is a unique opportunity to revive the classical tradition of the imperial past in modern life.

In August 2019, the premiere of the Dresden Opera Ball took place in Saint Petersburg with an excellent gala show in the traditional Mikhailovsky Theatre, before all guests strolled across Arts Square to the nearby Saint Petersburg Philharmonia to enjoy the spectacular opening of the ball and a multi-course gala dinner. The great success of this German-Russian event, which was broadcast on television in both countries, aroused the great desire for a spectacular repetition - a new tradition was born!
